Derek Bengtson joined Club Marketing Services in 1995, and has worked in a variety of capacities, including headquarter sales, territory sales and leadership positions. In his current role, Derek oversees the Club Marketing sales team. Specializing in consumer packaged goods for retail and club channels, Derek held sales and leadership positions within companies including E&J Gallo wines. Derek received a Bachelors degree from Baylor University and an MBA degree from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
When asked what Derek is most proud of in his career, he says, “Being a part of the difference we make with our vendors every day, building solutions for Walmart and Sam’s Club and seeing CMS grow every year is very rewarding. Taking a new vendor from nothing to over 16,000 points of distribution on a proprietary label sold only for Walmart and Sam’s has been very real victory.”
Derek’s philosophy is “Winning – it’s how you play the game”, but also states that it is just as important to “Always do unto others as you would have them do to you.”
He credits his parents for his professional success and learning the value of hard work. But his favorite occupation is that of a family man. He loves spending time with his wife Sheri and their children Dylan and Sydni. In his spare time, Derek coaches youth sports, is active in several non-profits in the NW Arkansas area and can be found flying remote control airplanes.
